INTRODUCTION
Although Epichlorohydrin is a very hazardous material because of its flammability, reactivity, and toxicity, it can be handled safely if proper precautions are taken. The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of the supplier should be consulted as the prime document for these precautions. This bulletin, which is intended as a guide, is additional handling information presented in outline form.
A Task Group has been set up under the auspices of The Society of Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) to recommend steps for safety and handling Epichlorohydrin and prepare this bulletin. The task Group recommends that the guidelines in the bulletin be followed by those who are involved in the distribution and handling of Epichlorohydrin. Following these guidelines does not guarantee compliance with any regulation. Companies involved in the handling and distribution of Epicholorhydrin should consult with their own legal and technical advisors regarding compliance with any applicable regulations.
